Overview
PitchPlay! is an ear-training and music education app. We are committed to being transparent about what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. The short version: PitchPlay! does not collect personal information and does not transmit your data to any server.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data stored locally on your device
PitchPlay! saves game state and preferences entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device storage (AsyncStorage). This data never leaves your device and we cannot access it. It includes:
- Game progress – lifetime correct/incorrect answers, streak counts, best scores per game mode.
- In-app purchase state – which virtual items (themes, sounds, feature upgrades) you own; virtual coin balance. No payment card or financial data is stored by the app (Apple handles all transactions).
- Daily puzzle state – today’s puzzle attempt status and result so the app can resume mid-puzzle.
- Settings and preferences – selected instrument sound, selected visual theme, whether you’ve dismissed tutorial overlays.
This data is identified only by your device — there is no user account and no username.
1.2 Advertising identifier (optional, future feature)
PitchPlay! includes Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework in preparation for a future optional ads feature. As of the current version, no advertising SDK is active and your IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers) is not read or transmitted.
If we activate an ad SDK in a future update, we will:
- Display Apple’s ATT permission prompt before accessing your IDFA.
- Update this Privacy Policy before that version ships.
- Only use the IDFA to deliver relevant ads if you grant permission; otherwise ads will be non-personalized.
You can always check or change your ATT permission in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your iPhone.
1.3 Data we do NOT collect
- Name, email address, or any other contact information
- Location data
- Camera or microphone data
- Health or fitness data
- Browsing history or cross-app activity
- Device identifiers (beyond ATT, when active and permitted)
2. How We Use Information
All data described in Section 1.1 is used solely to operate the app on your device — saving your progress between sessions, restoring your owned items, and presenting today’s daily puzzle. We do not use this data for any other purpose.
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties, because we do not collect data that leaves your device.
Apple processes in-app purchases through the App Store and is subject to its own Privacy Policy. We receive from Apple only anonymized, aggregated purchase confirmation signals sufficient to unlock content in the app; we do not receive your Apple ID or payment information.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Your game data lives only on your device. You can delete it at any time by:
- Going to Settings → General → iPhone Storage → PitchPlay! and tapping Delete App, or
- Resetting your progress from within the app (if a reset option is available in Settings).
We have no copy of your data on any server and therefore cannot retrieve it on your behalf.
5. Children’s Privacy
PitchPlay! is a general-audience music education app. It is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at tannergordondev@gmail.com and we will take steps to delete it. Because all data is stored locally on the device, deleting the app (see Section 4) will remove all associated data immediately.
6. Security
Because your game data never leaves your device, it is protected by your device’s own security features (device passcode, Face ID / Touch ID, iOS file encryption). We have no servers that could be breached to expose your data.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when we add new features (such as advertising). When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the app after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
